Chieftain Mezzo A
Description

This is not one of Chieftain’s better-known instruments – you have all perhaps become very familiar with the Chieftain Low D.

This, like other Chieftain’s though, is a factory made whistle and has an aluminium body with a flat-topped mouthpiece and rounded sides.
The holes are well engineered and perhaps slightly larger than comparative Mezzo A’s.

Mezzo A’s have an interesting range and are proving increasingly popular with session musicians - who use them not only for the home key of A – but also for playing in E and D.

Mezzo A Whistle
Description

Shaw Whistles are traditionally built in rolled nickel plate. They are of conical bore and have a wooden underlip. Due to this build type, Shaws have a soft warm sound and intonation is consistently good. The breathy sound produced cannot be found in many other whistles and to this end they are quite distinctive.

Dave Shaw, the maker, is an excellent musician and craftsman and voices all his whistles by hand. Shaws come complete with a presentation cardboard base gift case with transparent lid. The product weight shown is the gross weight of the package.

Mr. Weyer says: this Whistle has a lovely breathy sound - but don't forget it is a larger than a Soprano - hence the price difference.

Susato Mezzo Tuneable A
Description

Susato Whistles are made in the USA from high impact ABS, a quality plastic particularly suited for musical instruments. Two-piece Susatos have pitch adjustable body joints and feature a circular wind-way with individual voicing. A simple fingering chart is included with all Susatos. These instruments are noted for their bright sound and being plastic the intonation is good. The price shown includes a carrying bag, thumb-rest and fingering chart.

There are not many A Mezzo Tuneable whistles around that can compete with the build quality and tonality of this market leader.

Mr. Weyer says: plenty of body and breadth from this Mezzo A. A real professional sounding instrument.
